Clifftop Exclusive Safari Hideaway – Welgevonden Private Reserve

Situated in the Malaria free Welgevonden Private Game Reserve in the Waterberg Mountains. A tribute to the unique splendour of the African Wilderness, combining modern African living, simplicity and an abundance of flavour with a unique wildlife experience. Luxury suites overlooking the flowing Sterkstroom River, each one perched on the edge of the cliff, with a private deck and plunge pool, the ideal opportunity to view game from the privacy of their suites. Indoor and outdoor showers and bathrooms with breath-taking views, complement the seclusion of these spectacularly positioned suites. The lodge offers a dramatic fusion of African and Western cuisine, with the addition of an extensive wine cellar that any wine lover would appreciate.

The suites each have their own private viewing deck with plunge pool, thatched Salas and outdoor shower. They are non-smoking and have air conditioning, direct dial telephones hairdryers, hotel stationary, mini bars, room safes, separate bath and shower with bath consumables, tea / coffee making facilities, electric blankets as well as indoor & outdoor lounges. The interior design of the lodge and suites makes use of natural organic materials. Hand-beaten silver and dip-dyed fabrics prevail; together with luxurious afro-inspired stone wash finishes. Eco-friendly materials used offer a style that is romantic and organic, by way of beautiful woods, felts, mohair, cottons and linens.

Aptly meaning ‘well found’, the Welgevonden is unlike anywhere else on earth, a true wilderness area with excellent game viewing and stunning scenery. Enjoy this mountain bushveld environment with roaring rivers and sweeping horizon views. The reserve is located at high altitude, enjoys a mild climate and is malaria free making it worth a visit any time of the year. As a result of the reserve’s diverse landscapes, visitors can enjoy Big Five sightings, in addition to encounters with over 50 mammal species, 250 bird species and some of the bush’s most beautiful wild flowers that make their appearance in early spring. The Welgevonden also boasts unusual species such as brown hyena, aardwolf and aardvark. The reserve has never been a hunting area and as such game viewing is up and close and personal. In addition to great game viewing, there is also ancient San Rock Art.

Children 13 years and older are welcome at the lodge and are accommodated in their own rooms.

Take the N1 north towards Polokwane. At the Kranskop toll gate go left towards Modimolle Pass through Modimolle towards Mabatlane (Vaalwater). Pass through Mabatlane (Vaalwater) to the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve East Gate entrance. Turn left at the entrance and travel for 10 k Clifftop uses the East Gate entrance of the reserve where guest park their cars and get transferred to the Lodge – 15min transfer
