Thabamati Luxury Tented Camp

In 2019, Thabamati—which means “mountain and water”—came to pass. The camp has four opulent, roomy safari-style tents with private bathrooms that front a stunning dam and provide breathtaking views of the Drakensberg Mountains in the distance. An extra feature is the classy, tiny tented camp, which can only hold eight people.
The lodging in Thabamati is where the magic begins. Every Java safari-style tent is positioned beside a dam so that views of the water and the spectacular Drakensberg Mountains beyond are always there. With its open-plan layout that includes a writing desk, a bedroom, and a lounging area, it offers an opulent location for unwinding and introspection. The en suite bathrooms are as luxurious, with freestanding bathtubs, separate WCs, and outside and indoor showers with views of the dam. Through thoughtfully selected amenities, the room is filled with the aromas of Africa, enhancing your stay's overall sensory experience.
Extending beyond the cosy confines of the tented lodgings, Thabamati provides an array of safari pursuits aimed at fully engrossing visitors in the lively African landscape. Every day, there are two scheduled game drives—one in the morning and one in the late afternoon—that provide visitors the chance to see the Big Five. In addition, visitors can take part in brief morning bushwalks with enthusiastic and informed field guides, which highlight the lesser-known marvels of the environment and flora that are missed during game drives.
