Game viewing is not affected by the weather, seasons or time of year. Animals are active 365 days a year. If there is something you are specifically looking to see, consult with one of Shamwari's safari experts upon making your booking. To experience the fauna and flora at Shamwari, guests are required to book into one of the luxurious lodges. Regrettably, Shamwari does not offer day drives or permit self-drives through the reserve. Additionally, it’s recommended that you bring warmer clothing along for the trip as it may get cold, regardless of the time of year.

No Children under 16 are permitted to stay at the lodge. Other lodges at Shamwari do allow children, however, and even have activities and a programme for kids to enjoy.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO SINDILE, SHAMWARI PRIVATE GAME RESERVE, EASTERN CAPE Follow the N2 out of Gqeberha heading towards Grahamstown. Continue on the N2 until you reach a sign board for Shamwari Private Game Reserve and turn left towards Paterson on the R342. Travel 7 km up the gravel road and enter at the 2nd gate for the Welcome Lounge.
