Guests are not only treated to a luxurious stay but are also able to enjoy Big Five dusk & dawn safari game drives in comfortable vehicles that provide one with panoramic views of nature and spectacular game viewing.
Shamwari Private Game Reserve is a malaria-free area, so you don’t need to worry about packing any preventative tablets or syrups, other than your personal prescription medication. To get the most out of your Eastern Cape visit, we recommend that you pack: Cameras, lenses and binoculars Light clothing for summer safaris Bathing suits for the pool areas Comfortable walking shoes Sunscreen and hats Warmer clothing for night game drives and winter stays
Game viewing is not affected by the weather, seasons or time of year. Animals are active 365 days a year. If there is something you are specifically looking to see, consult with one of Shamwari's safari experts upon making your booking. To experience the fauna and flora at Shamwari, guests are required to book into one of the luxurious lodges. Regrettably, Shamwari does not offer day drives or permit self-drives through the reserve. Additionally, it’s recommended that you bring warmer clothing along for the trip as it may get cold, regardless of the time of year.
Children 12 years or older are welcome at Bayethe Safari Lodge.
Driving directions to Bayethe Safari Lodge, Shamwari Private Game Reserve, Eastern Cape Follow the N2 out of Gqeberha heading towards Grahamstown, bypassing the R342 turn-off. Continue along the N2 until you reach a sign board for Eagles Crag and Bayethe on the Sidbury Road. Turn left onto the gravel road and follow this road until you reach a T-junction. At the T-junction follow the sign boards to Bayethe. Lodge Co-ordinates: -33.4001998, 26.1843469
