Our combination safaris offer guests the best of both worlds. From staying inside and experiencing the wildlife of the Kruger National Park to spending a night or two at a private lodge in the Sabi Sands game reserve and all the comforts and fantastic wildlife sightings that accompany this experience.
One of Africa's most famous national parks, there are 147 mammal species found in Kruger, more than any other wildlife reserve in Africa! Of these the Big 5 (lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant) are of course included. On this safari we include open vehicle drives and a sunset drive. This safari gives you an amazing African wildlife experience. Our combination safaris are very popular, balancing the activities on offer, with rest and relaxation, just perfectly.
Having the opportunity to experience sleeping inside the Kruger National Park followed by spending a couple of nights in the Sabi Sands will offer you a fantastic wildlife experience. Return Johannesburg, Nelspruit or Skukuza road transfer can be arranged.

Day 1 : Southern Kruger
Pick up times: 06h30 at Curiocity Backpackers; 07h00 at OR Tambo International Airport; 07h30 at Outlook Lodge OR Tambo.
Our route takes us through the wide open spaces of the Highveld, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld area. We stop for lunch en-route (own expense) and reach the Kruger National Park in the afternoon.
After settling in to our accommodations (twin bed chalets with en suite bathrooms), you go out on your first game drive.
Dinner is a three course meal, served al fresco at our private camp.
Day 2 : Southern Kruger
Safaris are all about early mornings, getting out there and seeing animals! After an early wake-up call (the time varies according to the seasons and park gate opening times) we have tea or coffee & rusks (dried biscuits to be dunked in your drink!) We then set off on the morning safari which will take approximately 3-4 hours. Your guide has an intimate knowledge of the park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant sightings!
On returning to Pretoriuskop, breakfast/brunch will be ready at our camp. You then have time to enjoy a swim, visit the park shop which includes African curios, general food items and drinks, take a walk around the camp, or simply relax. The Kruger is also a bird watcher’s paradise! Be sure to bring along your binoculars!
After a siesta we set off on the afternoon game drive. We conduct all our game drives in specially adapted 4x4 open game drive vehicles to allow our guests the best possible vantage point.
We share safari stories at the camp fire under the stars after a scrumptious dinner served at our camp.
Day 3 : Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve
Today you have a choice, do a morning drive in the Kruger National Park before transferring to the private lodge, or doing a sightseeing trip along the panorama route before transferring to the private lodge. Unfortunately due to time constraints, there is not enough time for both.
We arrive at the private lodge in time to freshen up before departing on your afternoon game drive in one of the lodge’s open game drive vehicles. This drive generally takes about 4 hours and tends to extend into the early evening. The Private Reserves are particularly famous for its close sightings of predators. Although we cannot guarantee these sightings, your chances of seeing these magnificent animals are very good!
Dinner is served under the stars (weather permitting). The day ends with discussions around the open fire about what you saw today and the plans for tomorrow.
Day 4 : Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve
Private lodges offer two game drives per day, during which your experienced game ranger and expert local Shangaan tracker will share their extensive knowledge and love for the African bush with you. Due to a carefully planned and managed habituation process, animals and birds in the reserve have become used to having the game drive vehicles in close proximity, without feeling threatened. This allows us to get really close to them and forms part of the appeal of the Private Game Reserves!
After breakfast guests are welcome to join the morning walk. The rest of the day is spent at leisure, relaxing in your room or at the pool. Lunch is served around 14h00. Meal times are a sociable affair, with dinner served under the stars (weather permitting). Only the freshest produce is used and this is served with the local wines which South Africa is famous for.
Day 5 : End Of Itinerary
An early wake-up and coffee starts your last day on your Africa Wildlife Safari. One last opportunity to experience the magic that only the African Bush can offer!
After your morning Game Drive breakfast is served. Directly after breakfast we begin our journey back to Johannesburg.. We stop en-route for lunch (own expense). The drive back to Johannesburg takes at least 6 hours and guests are advised to sleep over in Johannesburg on this night.
