Set deep in the heart of a rare and beautiful dry sand forest, the award-winning andBeyond Forest Lodge fuses architecture and conservation. The lodge was hand built by local artisans, with a minimal footprint on the forest floor – not one tree was felled during construction.
An exquisite contradiction, floor-to-ceiling glass walls invite the forest inside, while the dense tree canopy shelters and provides privacy. Floating on stilts above the forest floor, the 16 Zulu Zen suites blend harmoniously into the dappled shade. Expansive decks in the spacious guest area, look out onto panoramic views of an open grassy meadow.
In the evenings, when warm firelight welcomes you to the traditional African boma, wide-eyed bush babies watch inquisitively from the trees above, as you in indulge in a lantern-lit feast beneath a canvas of stars.

I admit I am biased. I keep returning to Kings Camp. This was my 6th visit and was delayed by 2 years due to the pandemic. With the pandemic still rearing its ugly head, I decided a longer stay at a familiar place that I trusted would be a good solution. It was. From the moment I arrived, it was like returning home. The staff, a mixture of old and new faces, took care of anything I needed and always with a smile. I am probably one of the few visitors who requests the same tracker visit after visit. My rangers have come and gone over the years, but Albert has been my tracker on almost every visit. This time they paired Albert with Grant, the head ranger. They don't usually work together but we had fun and it worked well. My long stay allowed us to explore the Timbavati much more widely than previous visits and it was well worth it. The lion sightings were the highlights with lots of young cubs. And I can't forget the wild dogs with tons of puppies at a den site that was exclusive to Kings Camp. Plenty of leopards, elephants and general game spotted too. The rooms were refurbished since my last visit and it was worth it. Warren and Lisha, and the entire Kings Camp staff, make each visit feel like a homecoming. I know I will be back again and again.
